Villeroy & Boch is one of the world's leading premium brands for ceramic products. Founded in 1748 and headquartered in Mettlach/Germany, the family-owned company stands for innovation in the Bathroom&Wellness and Dining&Lifestyle sectors.
Ideal Standard International is a leading manufacturer of sanitaryware and taps in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, offering a wide range of branded products for residential and commercial applications in the sanitaryware and taps market, and with its cross-category offering is able to provide its customers with one-stop solutions. Ideal Standard International distributes its products under a number of well-known international and national brands such as Ideal Standard, Porcher and Armitage Shanks.
This heralds a new era for the Bathroom & Wellness Division and for Villeroy&Boch as a whole.
Strategic rationale for the merger
The acquisition creates a powerful combination with complementary established brand and sales strategies. The high level of market and product complementarity with a strong fittings business forms the basis for an improved competitive position and additional growth. While Villeroy&Boch focuses primarily on the high-end private customer business, Ideal Standard has extensive expertise in the project business.
