Villeroy & Boch at Ambiente 2012: Gift article series Samarkand

Inspired by the fascination of the Silk Road –

Gift article series Samarkand: complete product range now available for all décors

Samarkand – inspired by the historical trading metropoles of the Silk Road, Villeroy & Boch has combined elements of oriental folklore with local traditions to form a timelessly classical tableware collection. Extending the successful dinnerware collection, Villeroy & Boch has created a high quality, extremely decorative gift article series that underlines the oriental character of the concept though the use of strong colours, rich details and elaborate figurative portrayals.
The décors of the gift article series Samarkand are characterised by fine colours and elegant colour combinations: ruby, aquamarine, mandarin and cobalt blue. A horse, elephant, lion and camel feature as opulent motifs decorated with a loving eye for detail. Delicate touches of gold on all the pieces heighten the quality of the series.

Reception of the ruby-coloured Samarkand accessories was so positive that the article range of the gift collection has been extended. The ashtray and three variously sized square dishes are now available in the other three colours. The square dishes are conceived as classic vide poches in which pens, loose change, keys or cosmetics can be placed.
All décors may be harmoniously combined with one another, with the Samarkand dinnerware series, and with other elegant white dinnerware collections. Naturally the Samarkand gift items also stand in their own right as classic collector’s pieces.
