Donations for Villeroy & Boch employees in Thailand:

Villeroy & Boch supports flooding victims with €30,000

250 Villeroy & Boch employees were severely affected by the consequences of terrible flooding caused by two typhoons and heavy rain. Shocking and disturbing pictures and stories from Bangkok reached the Villeroy & Boch headquarters in Mettlach, where many people felt the need to help their Thai colleagues. Employees based in Germany quickly started to gather donations, a move that was immediately supported by the executive board.

At the beginning of November a number of coin banks were placed around the main administrative building of Villeroy & Boch, and a dedicated account for donations was made available. V&B employees in other European countries also joined the initiative. By the cut-off date of 26th January 2012, a total of €30,000 had been collected from the employees, the von Boch and Villeroy family, the executive board and through the auction of one of the exclusive limited edition Bolshoi plates.

Today, on 1st February, the money donated was personally presented by Frank Göring, Chairman of the Executive Board, to Danupong Nongpa, the local Human Resources Director. People in Thailand are thrilled by the support they have received: "We’re very pleased about the concern shown by our European colleagues and would like to express our sincere thanks for the donations. The employees affected by the flooding will need every cent to help them be slowly able to return to everyday life,” says Danupong Nongpa.

The local management in Thailand supported employees for a number of weeks with direct aid in the form of food and accommodation.
